Does it hurt?
Many people ask this question because in the 70s Rolfing® developed the reputation for being very effective and quite painful. Working with the sensitive art of Tai Chi Chuan has allowed me to evoke the same change without excessive physical force. Deep and lasting change is not synonymous with pain. By working with a body's natural rhythms, including breath, movement, and awareness, results can be comfortably achieved. We are working together and you are always in complete control of your session.
What should I wear?
I want people to feel comfortable while I work and do assessments. Shorts and a loose-fitting t-shirt made from natural fabrics are best. I can work with most anything, but please remove your gun, belt and spurs.
Why should I experience all 10 sessions?
The true genius of Dr. Rolf’s method is the art and science of reshaping and reorganizing human structure systematically so that it may function with its natural grace. For this purpose she created a 10 session ‘Recipe’ to explore embodiment. First, space must be created for deeper core work by lengthening the extrinsic structures of the body, just as if you would change into well fitting clothes appropriate for activity. The intrinsic musculature of the core must then be released and mobilized before it can be integrated with the extrinsic movement of the sleeve, creating stable harmony throughout. Each session builds upon the last, unlocking and unfolding human potential. You may try a session or two in order to get a feel for it. However, because of the nature of the work, having completed 3 sessions, I recommend that commit to completing the series.
This solid foundation paves the way for all advanced work.
